Mark and Phil are 1974 and 1980 HASD graduates. The brothers got their start after Phil bailed on a job interview to go and help his older brother finish a painting job in the Washington D.C. area. In the early days, they put a ski rack on a Fiat to transport ladders! The business they formed together is called Jendell, name after their Russian immigrant grandmother, Jenny Delinski (Jenny Dell after entering the U.S.). Jenny was a source of inspiration for the brothers and instilled in them the value of hard work and a job well done.
The business originally specialized in paint and light carpentry work, but expanded to include designing and building additions, kitchens, basements, bathrooms and custom homes. They have an outstanding reputation for their work.
In addition to their success in business, Mark and Phil are also active within their community through activism and donations. Jendell Construction has supported The Children’s Inn at NIH through annual giving. Mark is President of the Maryland State Youth Soccer Association, a non-profit that promotes opportunities for young players throughout the state. Phil is the chairmen of the Fight4DiabetesCure annual golf event which raises money for diabetes research and outreach programs. Phil has been involved for over 20 years and in that time over $2.7 million has been raised and donated to various Diabetes organizations.
Mark and Phil Cantor were nominated by Timothy Keech, a teacher at Frankstown Elementary who graduated with Phil.
